Spoil yourself – upgrade to a rooftop suite at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo

Summer is a busy time at Lake Como and especially at the top hotels on her shores. Wanting a break from the UAE heat and humidity of August, I could think of nowhere better to go for a real breath of fresh air; it had to be Lake Como, and it had to be the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. However, there were no rooms available for the dates we could travel. I reached out to the staff at the hotel and asked if they could contact me if there were any cancellations. The response was that this would be unlikely, but they offered a rooftop corner suite and even proposed a discount. How could I resist?

My mother is always ready for a trip and her annual birthday treat has now become an “experience” gift. Well, this would certainly be an experience. We had stayed at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo before so we knew we could expect only the best. However, the new rooftop suites were so much more than we had imagined. The beautiful traditional rooms with their period furnishings and squeaky floorboards highlighted the charm and character of the hotel, but up on the roof we felt something different. It feels so private up there and the views are completely awesome. We were on top of the world!

There is a private butler/concierge for the rooftop suites and nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfast on your terrace is a real treat, and if you want the bathtub to be filled and rose petals scattered in it, just ask. The Jacuzzi will be switched on for you, beds turned down, all the usual services; yet so discretely that you hardly notice. Your every wish is anticipated. There is almost no need to ask after the first day as the staff quickly pick up on your habits and  preferences.

The suites are furnished with comfort in mind and the blend of modern and traditional is sublime. So, next time you plan a visit to the Lake and want to spoil yourselves, ask about the rooftop suites at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. You deserve it!
